Hamnet is one of the most beautiful, brilliant and moving films I have seen in decades. It is everything that the Oscar winning films of better days were - Critic review (Rotten Tomatoes)
Expectations: knew it was an Oscar winner and love Chloe Zhao. What I liked: There's a lot to love. The performances are spectacular in their rawness. They take the time to actually set up the love of the family and the marriage before they wreck it. I was brought to tears multiple times. It takes on a few different themes (grief, the place of art, individual needs in a family/marriage, etc) and manages to service them all very well. What I didn't like: it can drag a little in places but even those parts are beautiful and raw. Conclusion: an amazing and touching film. And despite its heartbreak, I would actually consider watching it again. - Audience review (Rotten Tomatoes)
